Bon Voyage, My Loves!

My dearest Gianna will be shipping off to NYC soon, and it makes me SO SAD. She, and her amazingly wonderful husband Alex will be making the move so he can accept an amazing job! While I'm extremely happy for Alex, I'm going to miss my little sweet thang, as she is one of the nearest and dearest to my heart. I got to hang out at their house over the weekend with Gianna, her mom Denise (best. lady. ever.), and I got to get first dibs on some of the things that she would be selling at her fabulous garage sale. If you know Gianna, you understand how fabulous her belongings are. I am now the proud owner of her sewing machine, and if you recall (from a few blogs ago), I mentioned that I wanted to take up sewing as a new hobby! Thank you, my favorite little drapes! I love you both SO MUCH. I'll be visiting soon! Until then, I'll miss you!

"Down At Churchills" - The Crumbs

The fury of the Miami punk scene was alive and well on Saturday night! I felt like I was at home in "the new Churchills." I'm being told, quite seriously, that nothing is going to change from some of the promoters. They're people who I trust and adore, so I'm going to believe them. Speaking of those promoters, it was Los' birthday. It was amazing, and I hadn't had fun like that in a really long time. I mean, Raf came to Miami! 'Nuff said! Getting to see The Crumbs is always a treat. I love them, and I love that Jose played with them again. Watching Jose and Raf play guitar together is always a great experience.

Not only do I have most of the albums in that picture, but I'm also thanked on a few of them! You see, I used to take A LOT of pictures and video and have been credited on New Times often by the oh-so-amazing journalist Abel Folgar, who did this piece. I love my scene, and the fact that everyone is still a family after so long. From what I've been told, Fabio, Nayra, and Los are still holding down the fort at Churchill's, so nothing has changed too much...so far. Except the cups, the cups changed. They're smaller. Also, there was a cop standing outside of the bar the whole night, which is annoying to the regular crowd, because punk and disorderly is a way of life outside of our beloved bar. I'm sure the people who come from Ft. Lauderdale (and other cities that are out of town), who aren't quite accustomed to our special brand of Miami Ghetto, are happy about it. I mean, there are a lot of murders and theft in the area, and not everyone is as street smart as we are. I've seen people robbed at gunpoint, and most people have a "that time my car got broken into" story. Like I said, I get it. It's probably a good thing, but none of us really like change.

Happiness Is A Warm Bed.

....and I wanna get back in it with this guy!

Steps To The Best Morning Ever:

Step 1: Wake up extra early, just to cuddle before having to do crappy adult tasks (his teachin' ass is off for the summer...LUCKY). Give it a good hour, to really get maximum snugglage.

Step 2: Go to the shitty ass DMV with this sweet man, and get in and out in less than an hour. While leaving, enjoy some sweet owl watching in the parking lot. *Our county protects their nests, so they're EVERYWHERE! I love them!

Step 3: MOJO FREAKING DONUTS. 'nuff said.

Step 4: Upon arrival at work, Read Pablo's godfather's "Useless Trivia Friday" email. *I get this weekly, and it is amazing, every...single...time!

Upcoming Steps:

Step 5: DOGMA on Biscayne. I cannot WAIT to go there. If you haven't been there, you are missing out BIG TIME, and I know that a lot of my vegetarian friends complain that they lost their vegetarian options once Andiamo bought it, but...I'm not a vegetarian, and it's STILL delicious to me! Ok, maybe I want Andiamo...nope. Dogma.

Step 6: Make a cameo at Gianna's so we can get first dibs on all the things that she'll be selling at tomorrow's garage sale before they move to NYC. (This murders my heart)

Step 7: Get back in bed with Pablito and repeat Step 1!

Elizabeth!!

My Boss: Go through this junk and see what we should keep.

Jen: Do I look like Redd Foxx to you?

The fact that he laughed as hard as he did, shows me that I'm in the right place.

Something In The Way Layla Moves

So freaking beautiful. No wonder George and Eric made such beautiful music about her! Pattie Boyd was a stone cold fox!

Bloomin' FUNion

Me: Outback Steakhouse has a MOONSHINE BBQ MENU. I'm gonna scoop up some ribs for my honey on the way home, totally thought of you.

Andee: I wish there was a Bloomin' Onion on my desk right now.

Me: OMG, I would put it in my butt so it hits me faster.

Andee: You're a genius.

Stomach Virus - 1, Jenni - 0

And Luna is reaping all of the benefits.

Birthday + Broads

Friday Night at Churchill's, Saturday: A Birthday BBQ with my Miami Sunset High School posse, and Sunday for rest and relaxation at Pablo and Jen's House of Tiki! Some of the most memorable moments are not EVER going to be published. Such as: video of Joey singing Bonzo Goes To Bitburg in my face and screaming that I'm the best person in America, to Andee singing "Tomorrow" from "Annie" at the top of her lungs, while wearing Pablo's Bob Ross wig, and then the now-infamous timeline of 1. Fabio starts to playing with The Gazms 2. Fabio stops to sing "Happy Birthday" 3. Jyl jumps on stage with a cake with all of the candles already blown out 4. I attempt to blow out the candles anyway 5. Sam smashes cake into my face 6. I punch Sam in the face with a fistful of cake. 7. The cake falls. 8. Jyl eats cake off of Churchill's stage, insisting that it is still edible. 9. Jessica never breaks her maniacal laughter. 10. Band keeps playing 11. Chaos ensues.

We made a birthday toast at the house when all of my out-of-towners got there.
Making-up Jessica.
Sunset and Killian in the house!
Ridiculous.
Orlando got to walk up on Jyl with her #phonedick HAHAHA!
Love these broads!
Classic Corey!
Ugly Cry!
Eating cake is hard.
Ray, Pablo, Mr. Chad Backer, and Todd decided to have a game of catch outside in the back yard during the BBQ. Pablo is an EXCELLENT chef, by the way. I struck gold!
SNUG LIFE with Jessey, Jyl, Sharon, Andee, and Gianna!
Todd, Jyl, Ray, and Chad.
Oh Joey. Joey...

Always one of my favorite stories (with 2 of my favorite women):

“I owe Marilyn Monroe a real debt…it was because of her that I played the Mocambo, a very popular nightclub in the ’50s. She personally called the owner of the Mocambo, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she promised she would take a front table every night. She told him - and it was true, due to Marilyn’s superstar status - that the press would go wild. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. The press went overboard. After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman - and ahead of her time and she didn’t know it.” - Ella Fitzgerald

Happiness: Priceless.

"Again, in movies they like to portray marriage like 'oh the wife and husband are always arguing and bickering,'" he said. "For me and my wife...the easiest part of my life is my marriage. Like if everything was as smooth and easy and fun as my relationship with my wife then I would have a much easier time getting through the day. We really get along and we like the same stuff." Funny...I know exactly what you mean, Seth!

Dead I Mention?

Did I mention that I saw the Dead Milkmen a couple of weeks ago? No? Well, I'd like to add that I'm not over it yet. Pablo and I had a great time at Grand Central with our friends!
